Feather POS app and Feather dashboard · Feather Processing Inc. · last updated 2026-09-26
Feather POS is a tool for shop owners and managers. It shows a shop's sales, items,
stock and staff, taken from that shop's own Feather till, and lets them make changes
such as editing a price. This policy explains what information is involved, where it
goes and what we do with it. "We" means Feather Processing Inc., which runs the Feather
dashboard and publishes the app.
The short version
- No advertising, no tracking across other apps or websites, no analytics services.
- We do not sell or rent information to anyone.
- A shop's business records are kept on that shop's own till. The dashboard keeps
only the latest copy of the shop's key figures, so the app can still show them while
the till is switched off.
What the app handles
- Your dashboard account. To sign in, the app sends your email
address and password to the Feather dashboard. The password is checked there and is
not stored on the phone. The dashboard stores your email address, a securely hashed
form of your password, which shops you can see, and when you last signed in.
- A sign-in credential on the phone. After signing in, the phone
keeps a credential in its secure storage (the iOS Keychain or Android's encrypted
storage) so you stay signed in. The dashboard keeps a hashed copy with the time it
was created and last used, and a short description of the device. It stops working
after 90 days without use, when you sign out, or when the account's password is
reset.
- The shop's business information. Sales totals and reports, items
and prices, stock levels, departments, staff names and roles, and voids and other
exceptions. These belong to the shop and are kept on its own till. The app fetches
them from the till, through the dashboard, when you look at them, and sends back the
changes you make.
- A copy for when the till is off. Every few minutes the till sends
the dashboard a copy of the figures the app shows: sales summaries and reports, the
item list with prices, costs and stock, departments, and staff names and roles. Only
the latest copy is kept; each new one replaces the last. It is shown in the app only
while the shop's till cannot be reached, marked with the time it was taken, and it is
deleted when the shop is removed from Feather. It holds no card details, no customer
details and no staff PINs.
- Delivery orders (only for shops that connect Uber Eats). When a
customer orders from such a shop on Uber Eats, Uber sends the order to the dashboard, which
passes it to the shop's till. The dashboard keeps what is needed for the ticket - the items,
prices, totals and the customer's first name and last initial - for 7 days, then deletes it.
It does not keep the customer's phone number or address.
- The camera. Used only to read barcodes while the Scan screen is
open. Pictures are not recorded, saved or sent anywhere; only the number read from the
barcode is used.
- The AI assistant (optional). If a shop turns it on, questions typed
into "Ask AI" go to the shop's till, which sends them, with the figures needed to answer,
to Anthropic's Claude service using the shop's own Anthropic account. The conversation
is kept on the shop's till so it can be continued. Anthropic handles that information
under its own commercial terms and privacy policy.
Who else is involved
- Oracle Cloud hosts the Feather dashboard.
- Cloudflare sits in front of the dashboard to protect it and
carry its traffic securely.
- Expo delivers app updates. When the app checks for an update, Expo
receives technical details such as the app version, the phone's platform and its
network address.
- Uber, only for shops that connect Uber Eats, to receive their orders
and send back whether each was accepted.
- Anthropic, only when a shop has turned on the AI assistant, as
described above.
Like most internet services, the dashboard and these providers keep short-term
technical logs (such as network addresses and times of requests) to keep the service
working and secure.
Security
All traffic between the app, the dashboard and the tills is encrypted. Passwords,
sign-in credentials and shop tokens are stored only in hashed form on the dashboard.
How long information is kept
Account details are kept while the account exists. Sign-in credentials end after
90 days without use, when you sign out, or when the password is reset. A shop's business records are kept on its till under the
shop's control; the dashboard's copy of its figures is replaced every few minutes and
deleted when the shop is removed from Feather.
Your choices
- Sign out in the app's Settings at any time; this removes the credential from the phone.
- Ask for your account to be deleted: see Delete an account.
- Ask what information we hold about you, or for it to be corrected, by writing to [email protected].
Children
Feather POS is a business tool and is not meant for children. We do not knowingly
collect information from anyone under 16.
